Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is a charming and peaceful ski resort in the heart of the French Alps, renowned for its traditional Alpine character, beautiful mountain scenery and uncrowded slopes. Smaller and more relaxed than many of its famous neighbours, Sainte-Foy is particularly popular with families looking for a quieter and more authentic ski holiday.
The ski resort is aboout 1,550 metres and when skiing reaching approximately 2,620 metres. Although the ski area is relatively compact, it offers an excellent variety of terrain, from gentle beginner slopes and tree-lined runs to challenging pistes and some outstanding off-piste skiing. Sainte-Foy has developed a particularly strong reputation amongst experienced skiers and freeriders for its powder, natural terrain and accessible off-piste routes.
The resort's smaller size is a real advantage. The slopes, ski schools, restaurants and accommodation are conveniently located, making it easier to manage the practicalities of skiing with children. The quieter pistes also provide a welcoming environment for younger skiers who are building their confidence.
Away from skiing, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, winter walks, sledging and relaxing in the resort's restaurants and spas. The traditional architecture, with stone and timber chalets nestled amongst the trees, gives Sainte-Foy a very different feel from larger purpose-built resorts.
Its location is another major attraction. Sainte-Foy is within easy reach of some of the Tarentaise Valley's best-known resorts, including Val d'Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosière, making it a great base for families who want a peaceful resort while still having access to some of the Alps' largest ski areas.
