Experience

I have extensive child care experience, including caring for children of various ages. I have cared for twin girls during a summer job in New York and provided exceptional childcare and support to them. Additionally, I worked as a nanny for girls aged 4 to 9 in London, promoting their physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. I also served as a live-in nanny and caregiver for a boy with Down syndrome on the Gold Coast. In this role, I offered exceptional support and companionship, creating a structured and engaging daily routine tailored to the child's unique needs. Maximum Number of Children at One Time: I have experience caring for multiple children simultaneously, but I would need more specific information to provide an exact number. I have a big family and always been one of the oldest cousins so always been on call for babysitting duties which are no problem because I’ve always been a maternal figure who enjoys time around children. I have a 4 year old sister who I am very close with and she loves me as her fun big sister. She’s more than happy to be my reference. I do lots of volunteering for children with disabilities and families on low income through football camps I run. I’ve completed 1 ski season in Australia which I got my ski licenses.

My References

  • I am writing this letter to wholeheartedly support Sapphire Bennett Williams' application for the ski nanny role. My name is Dr. Catherine Ann Malouf, a Medical Doctor practicing in Coolangatta, Queensland. I had the privilege of getting to know Sapphire when she lived with my family in Tweed Heads from early 2019. This recommendation is based on my personal experience and observations during her time with us. Sapphire originally came to stay with us as she was heading north to pursue farming work as required by her visa. However, due to the unfolding pandemic and the unsafe conditions associated with traveling to farms and living in crowded accommodations, she remained in our home for an extended period. At the time, the world was in the midst of uncertainty, with the pandemic wreaking havoc globally, and vaccines were not yet available. As a medical professional, I strongly believed it was unsafe for Sapphire to travel. Our family's situation was unique, as we are border residents, living between Tweed Heads and Tugun on the Gold Coast. My husband, also a surgeon, had commitments at multiple hospitals in the area, and we had a child, Joseph, with Down syndrome who required special care. When lockdowns were enforced, our older children moved back home to our Tugun house, while my husband's work was mainly based there. This left me primarily responsible for Joseph's care in our Tweed Heads home, where he couldn't attend school due to his immunosuppression and school closures. Unfortunately, Joseph's regular carers from Queensland couldn't cross the border, and I was reluctant to hire unfamiliar carers for him. Sapphire stepped in as the live-in carer for Joseph during this challenging period. She is a natural-born carer, displaying a bright, energetic, and committed attitude. She quickly bonded with Joseph and became instrumental in his online learning, serving as the primary point of contact with his school. She adeptly managed his personal hygiene, even learning some sign language to communicate effectively with Joseph. Her support during this time was invaluable to me. Sapphire's dedication, adaptability, and genuine care for Joseph during a challenging period demonstrated her ability to excel in a caregiver role. I wholeheartedly recommend her for any role that requires compassion, commitment, and the ability to provide exceptional care to those in need. If you require any additional information or have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am more than willing to provide any necessary support for Sapphire's application.
