Rachel

Reference Checked

Hi there! I am Rachel Chamberlain, a 23 year old female from New Zealand. My hobbies are football (or soccer), art, fashion, skiing, exercising and eating yummy food! My other work experience includes working at an emergency pharmacy as a pharmacy assistant for a few summers full time, working at a pizza place, a stationary store, at a hall of residence doing dishes, promotional work, as a dental assistant. I am interested in this work because I love children, love the snow and really want to travel as we get 2-3 months off from early November to Early February. I would be happy to take care of your children while you are on holiday. I have skied since I was young so I'd be happy to take your children out on the slopes or just look after them while you are enjoying your holiday.

Qualifications

I am in my third year of studying Dentistry at the University of Otago, New Zealand. Before studying dentistry I completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences in Nutrition and Metabolism in Human Health (a mouthful I know!) at the University of Otago. I have a Level 1 First Aid certificate.

Experience

As far as experience goes, I have a 3 year old half brother who I've had a lot of experience looking after throughout the day and overnight. In addition to this I have taken care of a 5 year old girl for 2 years, once a week for a few hours. This was voluntary as she came from a family of need. I have also worked with younger Pacific Island students, mentoring them in their first year of university.

My References

  • Rachel is one of the nicest people I have met. She is honest, dedicated, passionate and reliable. Rachel is one of our senior mentors in a programme run to help students transition into University. She is one of four student leaders who mentor our programme mentors, who in turn mentor groups of first year students. Rachel has also been involved in some science holiday programmes run from our office geared at students aged from 7 -13. Rachel was fantastic, she engaged the children well and managed to mediate effectively between the varying age groups present. I believe that Rachel has the perfect temperament to deal effectively, kindly and fairly with children of all ages. She has also gained valuable skills as part of her dentistry training. Rachel has a great sense of empathy and can adapt to any situation she might find herself in. I truly believe that Rachel would be a valuable addition to any family looking for reliable, relaxed and fun child care whilst away on holiday!
  • I am happy to act as a referee for Rachel. Rachel was an academic summer student with me a couple of years ago and her work has resulted in the production of a manuscript for publication that is currently being considered by the Journal of Primary Health Care. Rachel is a dentistry student with the University of Otago in New Zealand. In addition, I taught Rachel’s brother who was a medical undergraduate and has since graduated from the University of Otago. I have no hesitation in recommending Rachel as a trustworthy and responsible individual who I would have no hesitation in recommending for childcare of my own son.
