Reference Checked

Having recently graduated, my sports enthusiast mindset has driven me to take a gap year, allowing me to travel practicing sports I love including skiing, spearfishing, free-diving, and surfing whilst working as I travel. Constantly travelling and living in the Bahamas and Spain, I am well suited for international environments and I feel that I am already adapted and prepared to work in an international atmosphere. I grew up in a busy house with two younger sisters, being the oldest I have lots of experience with children. However, I have also been babysat and tutored children of different ages for four years now, giving me a background in childcare. I would love to work in childcare this season as it is a familiar area for me, and I enjoy sports, board games, crafts, baking, and much more, all activities which children adore. Since I’ve been in Verbier I have had the pleasure of working during the busy Christmas season at Bonjour Verbier, my contract has now ended and I am ready to take on a new endeavour. I am no stranger to hard work, no job is too big or too small for me. I have a variety of work experience including working under real estate, shop work, as well as volunteer work, my favourite being sea turtle conservation in Costa Rica. Overall, these past experiences have helped me develop a good working attitude whilst giving me a general insight and understanding of working in childcare. I look forward to my winter season in Verbier and having the opportunity to continue my work in child care.

  • To whom it may concern Aloha College is a 3-18 independent co-educational ISI inspected day school with a strong international ethos and a growing sixth form of 100, the vast majority of whom go on to Higher Education, either in the UK, Spain or further afield. Students sit the more demanding IGCSE examinations in Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate or A- Level programme in Year 13. Siena is predicted to pass her I.B. Diploma with distinction, achieving a total of 34 points. Siena is an enthusiastic, popular student. She has a lively, outgoing personality and a cheerful, bright attitude. She has matured greatly over the past year and has a real determination that is recognised by her teachers. Siena embraces new ventures and has an underlying caring nature which impresses her peers. Sienna is committed to her studies and is spending extra time after school ensuring that she is up to date with all her deadlines. Siena responds well to criticism. She works well in groups, expressing her ideas clearly and listening to those of others. In her Business Management course, Siena has been asked to produce a business report based on a real company that she could conduct primary research in to. She has undertaken the task with enthusiasm and has applied many of the business tools and concepts covered in the course successfully. As an independent learner, Siena was encouraged to conduct her own investigation into a company of her choice; each week Siena would report her findings on BMW to the rest of her class confidently. A very enthusiastic and gregarious character Siena is well liked by her peers. She enjoys group work and contributed well to the task of putting a business idea into practice at the school bazaar, making sure that she was at the stand creating as many sales as possible until all of the items were sold. The proceeds were then donated to charity. In English, Siena is a student who always has a range of interesting opinions to offer. She interacts well in lessons, is able to explore themes of texts in some depth, and shows that she is able to think critically. Her interest in Business was clearly shown when she explored the context behind Williams' play, "A Streetcar Named Desire", including Business opportunities that were available after World War 2. Siena has been particularly interested in gender equality, and how this still needs attention in the world of Business. Her written task, exploring the issue of equal rights in the 19th Century through Ibsen's play, "A Doll's House" clearly demonstrates Siena's passion. In her further oral assessment, Siena explored the use of language and its impact on gender stereotypes, analysing the influence of image and the message this sends out. These skills are clearly needed in a Business setting. In Mathematics, Siena has shown a real desire to improve and do well. She is committed to her studies, has a good grasp of the basic concepts covered and has achieved consistently good grades in her tests. Her choice of topic for internal assessment was based on a country's GDP and has enabled her to show strong personal engagement as she interpreted her data. She is always willing to try questions even if she is slightly unsure. In her previous school, Siena completed her silver Duke of Edinburgh award, enhancing her teamwork and problem solving skills. As a team player, she was involved in the football, volleyball and swimming teams. Within the Aloha school community, Siena has been a reliable member of a number of activities. She is an active member of the Model United Nations' Club and has most recently become involved in the ECO movement, designed to create a more Eco friendly environment at Aloha College. Siena has a fun and caring nature which I am sure will endear her to peers in the next phase of her academic life. Siena's greatest attribute is her warmth and friendly approach. She is endlessly smiling and has a can do attitude which will be an asset to any collegiate course. I strongly recommend her to you.
