Experience & Qualifications

Hi there, I am a friendly, fun-loving nineteen year old student from Cape Town, South Africa. I am reliable, extremely well organised, trustworthy and very responsible.

I enjoy travel and experiences which push me past my comfort zone. I am cheerful, active and a lover for the outdoors. Growing up in Cape Town, spare time would be spent doing a variety of activities, particularly hiking and swimming.

I love working with children and have a very caring approach, always working to the best of my ability to ensure that the children are in the best care and that each day is packed with fun-filled activities.

I am currently studying towards a BSc in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town.

I have Level 3 EMT First Aid and was a first aider at many sport matches and events throughout high school, where I had to remain calm while dealing with many injuries. I also have a clean Police Clearance.

I attended Westerford High School from 2013-2017, where I attained NSC distinctions in all 7 subjects – Maths, Physics, Biology, Accounting, English, Afrikaans and Life Orientation. I also achieved an Academic Honours Award, as well as an All-Rounder Award for my academic achievement and involvement in sport, music and community service.

At high school I held many leadership roles as Prefect, member of the School Council and member of the Service Co-ordinating Council Executive Committee. My position as a prefect required responsibility in dealing with younger children.

I am very passionate about being involved in community service and helping those less fortunate than I am. I was a member of the Habitat for Humanity Committee (a non-profit, fundraising committee) and received an Honours Award for my Community Service.

I was a member of two bands and the choir and was awarded Honuors for music and my service to music.

I have grown up being around small children, as my mother has run a playgroup for 2-4 year olds for the past 23 years. From my teen years, I have had hands-on experience in the playgroup, working part-time during school breaks and study leave. I have assisted with art, story time, outside free play and structured educational play.

I have further experience with children aged 3-8 years, by doing voluntary work at the Rotaract Children’s Christmas Party and experience with infants to 12 year olds at a Children’s Home, Maitland Cottage.

Working for a tutoring company, Elite Tutors, I have had experience with learners aged 14-18. I also do private tutoring lessons.
I also have experience babysitting neighbour’s children, which included helping with homework and preparing meals.

In 2015, I joined a World Challenge Leadership Expedition to Borneo, where we worked on a community project to assist in building a children’s centre and organised a week of activities for the local children.

re: Reference for Gina Cridge

Since I started working at "Cheryl and Bernie's Play Morning" in 2014, Gina has been involved there during her holidays and study breaks.

She is competent, kind and fun-loving. The children responded well to her and looked forward to the times when she was helping.

A typical play morning consists of structured play (puzzles etc), art time, outside play, tea time, singing/music ring and story time, all of which Gina is very familiar with.

Gina is a responsible, intelligent person and would be comfortable and conscientious as a child minder.

Yours sincerely
