"Gemma is a natural caretaker. Gemma served as Head Girls Counselor at Camp California in Croatia, which hosts campers from all over the world ages 7 to 17. As the Program Director of this camp for many years, I can confidently share that Gemma was by far the most committed, caring, and attentive Head Girls counselor that we have had. All of the campers were drawn to her personality and humor, but more importantly they were seen and heard by her and that makes all the difference. She naturally navigates the balance of being a role model, a guide, a friend, a playmate, and a caretaker. Safety is always her priority, and she creates an inclusive, equal, and safe environment for children to be children. She promotes experiential learning, interpersonal relationship building, imagination, and communication. From the little things like braiding cabins worth of girls' hair or saying goodnight to each female camper before bed, to the big things such as mitigating quarrels amongst young tweens or helping with illnesses, she puts the children's wellbeing first. I highly recommend Gemma to Alpine Child Care agency and truly believe she will add immense value to your organization. Please do not hesitate to reach out with further questions. "

"Gemma is exceptionally hardworking and committed. She holds herself to very high standards and will give her all. I found Gemma to be extremely honest, open and willing to take on feedback. She has a firm but fair manner which young children respond well to. I found that children would trust Gemma and come to her with issues due to her caring nature. At Camp California, Gemma quickly stood out as a leader and was asked to take on more responsibility than others in her position. In her lessons, she was able to deliver safe, educational activities that the children loved.” – Kimberley Forbes, Unit Head of Younger Children, Camp California in Croatia"
