Experience & Qualifications

Introduction:

Working in childcare is fun and rewarding, especially when it can be done in an exciting environment such as snow covered mountains. For the last six years I have worked with children in the various challenging environments Colorado and the world has to offer. Throughout my college studies and later high school years I have had opportunities to teach kids everything from swimming to playing the piano to socializing with other kids. Most recently I have been working for an American family and their infant son as their au pair in Southern Europe while they travel to rock climb. Upon finishing my work in Southern Europe this year I started looking for the next adventure.
Qualifications:

Working with children is my passion and for the last 5 years I have made it my career. I am an extremely accomplished skier as well as a certified white water raft guide. Beyond exploring the United States I have backpacked through Europe as well as other parts of the world. I have a bachelors in degree from The University of Colorado at Boulder with a focus on creative writing.
Experience:

I have more than five years in the field of childcare in many different environments such as on the beach, ski slopes, hikes in the mountains, or just in the family living room. For three years I worked in Colorado as a ski instructor for children ages 3 to 12 in both large and small groups, up to 12. I have four years of raft guiding experience with many hours spent with school groups of all ages. Throughout my work my responsibilities have included cooking, cleaning, teaching, reading, and building, as well as many others.

Reference:

"Hello! Andy helped with our son when he was 8 months old to 22 months old. Working with infants was new to Andy at the time. He was always engaged and meticulous with learning about babies and being contentious to do the best job he could. Andy had previous experience with 3-5 year olds teaching ski school. He enjoys being with kids, is thoughtful about daily care and safety, and iscreative and outgoing when it comes to providing engaging activities. Another attribute of Andy's is that he is responsive to feedback. He was always open to learning or adapting new childcare approaches based on our thoughts or concerns. He was an asset to our family! We will miss him! "
